Cascaded Selections

What are Cascaded Selection?

Cascaded Selections help you to set options connected to another selection field depending on what is selected previously.

Setting up Cascaded Selection for Your Fields

To set cascaded selections for a selection field, you must first create at least 2 selection fields in the Design Mode.

In our example, we have created a field named Product Category with the 3 main categories of our products and a field named Product Type with the list of all of our products available. We will use cascaded selections to connect each of our products to the corresponding main categories in the field Product Category.

Select field Product Type and check the Set Cascaded Selections box, then select Product Category from the drop-down menu and click on the Set button.

A pop-up menu will display all options of the referenced selection field. You can add the cascaded selections to each parent option. Each cascaded selection must be written on one line each.

When you are done with adding cascaded selections, don't forget to click on the Save button at the bottom of the window.

It is possible to set cascaded selections referring to a field already with cascaded selections, so you can have a chain of cascaded selections.

Note: Both the parent selection field and the child selection field need to be added to the listing page if you would like to display one of them there. If you do not want one of those fields displayed on the listing page, you may apply the hidden attribute to that field.
