    The Land of Misfits Kiko Goat Ranch, located in De Leon Springs, Florida, is owned by Guy Beasley and Charli Moore— a duo who also operate R&R Automations. They began operations in March 2023 with 5 female goats, and in just 1.5 years, they have expanded to a herd of more than 20 adult, yearling, and kid goats.

    The goat ranch is primarily focused on breeding and meat production, while daily tasks include feeding and watering the goats, topping up additional hay throughout the day, and weaning the kids off their bottles. They also conduct other businesses, such as the selling of dried specialty wood from the property itself. All of this happens alongside Guy and Charli’s demanding roles at R&R Automations— so efficiency isn’t just helpful, it is essential to keep everything running smoothly.

    The Challenge

    Just like most small and medium sized companies, the Land of Misfits Kiko Goat Ranch initially managed their business using a mix of papers alongside disassociated Excel spreadsheets and Google Docs. This led to the following problems:

    1. Manual invoicing

    2. No formal inventory system

    3. No expense and ROI tracking

    4. No centralized customer database

    Using a number of disconnected tools was inefficient, created more work, and increased risks of error. Additionally, the duo was unable to track and gather integral data such as financial inflows and outflows necessary to make meaningful business decisions for the company.

    The Solution

    One day, Charli and Angie from R&R Automations were chatting about cute goat videos from the ranch. This eventually led to conversations about the Land of Misfits Kiko Ranch; and what started as a casual conversation between colleagues soon turned into a digital transformation project for the R&R Automations team.

    The R&R Automations team had previously designed a Small Business Work Order template in 2023 to help business owners of any industry keep track of their customers, potential sales, estimates, costs, profits, and scheduling, among other things. Upon learning about the challenges faced by Charli at the Land of Misfits Kiko Ranch, the team made some upgrades to the template and released version 2, which the goat ranch started using in March of 2025.     By simply downloading the template and uploading the Land of Misfits Kiko Ranch’s data into Ragic, the team was able to get the system up and running in just 2 days’ time! As Angie put it:

    The Small Business Opportunity Work Order Template

    The Small Business Work Order Template by R&R Automations on Ragic is designed to help business owners from any industry better track their customers, potential sales, estimates, costs, profits, scheduling, and more.

    The 4 main building blocks of the template include:

    1. Customer Accounts

    This sheet keeps a record of each customer profile with their names, contact information, billing information, opportunities and work orders, while calculating the customer’s total lifetime value through their opportunities and work orders.

    The R&R Automations team helped the Land of Misfits Kiko Ranch customize their Customer Accounts sheet by adding an additional tab for details on past customer data and installations, which helped them effectively track each customer’s work order history, which are vital information for assessing each customer and project’s value and success rate when making business decisions such as resource allocation, prioritization, among others.

    For the Land of Misfits Kiko Ranch, they were able to conveniently classify customers and leads according to the main division or department they belong to. For instance, their primary customers for meat and dairy harvest are other goat ranches or animal ranches in general; they would then be classified under the ranch main business. On the other hand, other types of customers may benefit from their secondary operations, such as selling dried wood from the property.

    2. Opportunity/ Work Order

    The opportunity and work order sheet provides a comprehensive account of current sales as well as future sales, along with the scope of work, schedule, and job costing for all projects won. This includes a calculation of the variance between estimated and final profit.

    While regular job scheduling and work orders are started once an order is received, which is the case for construction projects or customized orders, a goat ranch uses it differently. In the context of the Land of Misfits Kiko Ranch, an opportunity or work order is created at the time of the goat’s birth or purchase and is closed at the time of sale. They may include details such as health and veterinary checks, weight monitoring, feed monitoring, and the goat’s readiness for sale. Customers may also have specific requirements such as certifications that may be required for its final sale.

    This sheet then effectively calculates each goat’s costs, and the final margins are then pushed from the Opportunity/ Work Order sheet onto the Products sheet. Other details include payment progress and invoicing status, which helps The Land of Misfits Kiko Ranch track each job’s expenses and eventually, their ROI. Using Ragic’s mail merge function, users are also able to quickly generate proposals from the sheet in just a click of a button— quick and easy.

    3. Products

    The product sheet serves as a centralized record that lists all frequently used products and equipment within the organization. For each item, it captures key details such as product cost, manufacturer information, and vendor information— valuable information for making informed purchasing decisions. Additionally, it supports expense tracking and helps businesses manage budgets more effectively.

    For the Land of Misfits Kiko Ranch, their main products are just as what you would expect them to be— the goats themselves! To fit their industry needs, R&R Automations helped customize their Products sheet to include additional tabs for keeping track of goat information. This included their name, status, gender, birth lineage, and lifetime cost tracking (pushed from the Opportunity / Work Order sheet). The lifetime cost tracking, which keeps a record of their daily and total feed cost, vet checkup costs, and other expenses, is helpful in determining each goat’s lifetime cost and final profit margin during sale.

    4. Invoce Details

    This sheet combats the issue of manual invoicing, as users would be able to generate customer invoices directly from Ragic with just one click of a button, enabled using Ragic’s built-in the mail merge function. Businesses can then issue and send invoices directly to customers in just a few clicks— no more looking up customer information, manual typing, and error corrections!

    Additionally, the invoice sheet also tracks the invoice status, payment progress, payment terms, outstanding accounts receivable amount, and billed amount, making it easy for users to determine the company’s current financial position.
